Issue ID

SPLB-274

Regression

No

The primitive object of type Cube GameObject is hexagonal and elongated when added to the Hierarchy window which has a Prefab that has the Spline Container and Spline Animate Components

Package: Splines

-

How to reproduce:
1. Open the “ReproProject“ project
2. Open the “TestScene“
3. Drag and Drop the “LaserShooter.prefab“ to the Hierarchy window
4. In the Hierarchy window create a new “Cube“ GameObject

Expected result: The “Cube“ GameObject looks like a cube
Actual result: The “Cube“ GameObject is hexagonal and elongated

Reproducible with: 2.5.2 (2021.3.37f1, 2022.3.26f1, 2023.2.20f1), 2.6.0 (2022.3.26f1, 2023.2.20f1, 6000.0.0f1)

Reproducible on: macOS 13.5.2 (Intel), Windows 10 Pro (2H22)
Not reproducible on: No other environments tested

Notes:
- Not reproducible with a fresh project from scratch, but importing the “LaserShooter.prefab“ into a new project will reproduce the problem
- After deleting the “LaserShooter.prefab“ the project needs to be restarted for the primitive of type Cube to look like a cube

  1. Resolution Note:

Thanks for reporting that. This problem has been fixed in Splines 2.5.0, so updating the package and re-making that prefab should fix that.

You should as a good practice not use a Mesh filter pointing to a mesh primitive when you are planning to modify it as it will modify this primitive and cause this kind of problem.
Duplicate of another internal issue: SPLB-183: [Splines] Copy-paste of a GameObject SplineExtrude keeps the mesh reference
