Unity Editor crashes with no Stacktrace when creating a build of a project to the Assets folder using script
Reproduction steps:
1. Open the attached "BuildPipelineError" project
2. Click on “Build Tool” in the Menu bar
3. Press “Build”
Expected result: A warning or an error is displayed in Unity Editor about an invalid build path
Actual result: Unity Editor crashes
Reproducible with: 2021.3.27f1, 2022.3.3f1, 2023.1.1f1, 2023.2.0a21
Reproducible on: macOS Ventura 13.2.1 (M1 Max)
Note: An ArgumentException message can be seen in Editor.log
ArgumentException: Invalid build path: '/Assets/BuildPipelineError.exe'. The 'Assets' directory is an internal work directory of Unity and projects should not be built inside it. Please choose another directory for the build output.
