Windows-only: Specialized Frame Select on Terrain doesn't work (in "Raise/Lower Terrain" -tool)
Works in 3.5. Works in 5.x on Mac but not on Windows. Please see comments by Jonas Echterhoff to see how it was fixed on Mac.
The frame select on Terrain is producing weird results.
In Unity 3.5 when I selected the "Raise/Lower Terrain" -tool, pointed the mouse at the terrain and pressed the "Frame Selected" -hotkey (F-key), the view would focus on the exact spot where the mouse was pointing. This gave me excellent control of the tool.
In Unity 4 this is no longer true. When pressing "Frame Selected", the view moves according to where the mouse is on the screen, essentially jumping away from the spot I'm working on.
If this was the intended function, it is essentially useless and takes away my control of the view. I have several other ways to move around the viewport (WASD -keys and the middle mouse button). In all other objects the "Frame Selected" will zoom in on the object, so when using it on the Terrain it is inconsistent.
2) How can we reproduce it using the example you attached
1 Create new project
2 Create terrain and choose it in Inspector and choose "Raise/Lower Terrain" -tool
3 Make mount like on image "Step1" and leave mouse pointer on the mount
4 Press "F" to focus
5 The result is on image "Result" - the mount is not in the center of the view but should be in the center
Sometimes mounts go out of the screen, sometimes view goes to the space and so on.

Really disappointed this hasn't been addressed. Seems an easy fix. Without it, navigating a terrain in Unity is now an extremely tedious process. I appreciate the efforts to add new features, but since Unity 3, the platform seems to be increasingly broken. This terrain issue may seem to be a small one, but this lack of polish becomes frustrating over time.

By the way, this seems to be the behavior for the paint tool as well. The view just flies all over the place when you try to focus on where you are working with the "frame selected" option (F key).

Is there a workaround to this? Pretty desperate to do terrain work and I'm stuck without being able to frame my view...

Wow, just started using Unity 4 and this makes Terrain editing nearly impossible. View/focus flies all over the place when I try to work with terrains. Please fix asap!
