Scene View camera returns to vector 0 after placing a GameObject out of Scene View bounds and focusing on it with double-click
How to reproduce:
1. Open Unity, open or create a project
2. Hold down Shift and move the Scene View camera one direction until the Scene View shows a static image
3. Create a GameObject
4. Double-click the created GameObject in the Hierarchy
5. Observe the Scene View camera returning to vector 0
Expected result: The Scene View camera doesn't zoom anywhere as it is already facing the GameObject
Actual result: The Scene View camera travels to vector 0 even though the GameObject is somewhere else
Reproducible with: 5.6.0a1, 5.6.6f1, 2017.1.3p3, 2017.2.2p3, 2017.4.1f1, 2018.1.0f1, 2018.2.0b1
Notes: Sometimes, you have to double-click the GameObject a few times before the Scene View moves. Using the "F" key or "GameObject --> Align View to Selected" does not reproduce the issue as the Scene View camera stays in place.
