Editor temporarily freezes when using the Terrain Bridge tool
Reproduction steps:
1. Open the attached “ASDQWE” project
2. In the Project Window, double click on the “Assets/Prefabs/Environment/Terrains/Environment_Unit2.prefab” Prefab
3. In the Hierarchy Window select “Environment_unit2 > TerrainSystem_U2 > Terrain” GameObject
4. In the Inspector Window, under the Terrain Component, select the “Paint Terrain” Button
5. Select the “Sculpt > Bridge” Sculpt mode
6. In the Scene View, hold the “Ctrl” button on your keyboard and press the left mouse button on one spot
7. Release the “Ctrl” button and press the left mouse button on another spot
Expected result: The Editor’s performance does not slow down
Actual result: The Editor freezes temporarily
Reproducible with: 4.0.5 (2021.3.29f1), 5.0.3 (2022.3.6f1), 5.1.0 (2023.1.7f1, 2023.2.0b3)
Reproducible on: Intel macOS 13.5, M1 Max macOS 13.4.1
Not reproducible on: No other environment tested
Notes:
- The issue is more vivid when a bigger Brush Size is selected and/or making a longer bridge
- Using the tool in a blank project does not freeze the Editor but also takes a relatively long time to perform the operation

We acknowledge that the current Terrain system has a number of limitations, so we are currently investing in a large amount of discovery work to determine exactly what is needed most and how we can bring it to you at the quality level you have come to expect and address the most pervasive pain points in the most effective and efficient manner. However, we know each case is different, so please do continue to log any issues you find, and provide general feedback on our roadmap page to help us prioritize.
