Crash when entering Play Mode and serializing data right after recompilation of script changes
How to reproduce:
1. Open the attached project "Share.zip"
2. Open the "Test_School" Scene
3. Open the PlayInEditorHook.cs
4. Set both the IDE and Unity as floating windows
5. Edit the PlayInEditorHook() function by adding or deleting new lines
6. Save the script
7. Return focus to Unity by clicking on the custom "Export and Play" button to the right of the Play/Pause/Step buttons
8. Repeat from step 5 until it crashes
Expected result: Editor enters Play Mode
Actual result: Editor crashes
Reproducible with: 2020.3.14f1
Can't test with: 2018.4.36f1, 2019.4.29f1, 2021.1.15f1, 2021.2.0b3, 2022.1.0a2 (Custom button that serializes Scene data doesn't exist)
Notes:
- If it doesn't crash for a while delete the Library folder and start from step 1
- Might happen more commonly with Visual Studio 2017 - 2019
