Crash on Internal_PumpMessageLoop when entering Play mode without a headset

Reproduction steps:

1. Open user attached project "VR-Crash-Test.zip"
2. Make sure Oculus app is turned on
3. Disconnect headset from computer
4. Enter Play mode

Expected result: Error message, that headset is not connected
Actual result: Crash

Reproduced with: 1.6.0 (2022.2.10f1), 1.7.0 (2022.2.17f1, 2023.1.0b14, 2023.2.0a12)
Could not test with: 2020.3.47f1, 2021.3.24f1 (issue with “UnityObjectAddedBroadcaster.cs” script)

  1. Resolution Note:

    Meta is aware of this issue and is working on a fix. They have provided the following workaround:

    When using Unity OpenXR Plugin and have “Developer Runtime Features” enabled in the Oculus app, Unity editor might crash when starting the VR preview. The workarounds are (1) Switch to Oculus XR Plugin, or (2) Disable “Developer Runtime Features”, or (3) Start Quest Link before using play-in-editor.
