Build with Addressables fails when changing Addressables Groups Build & Load Paths to <custom>
Reproduction steps:
1. Create any new project
2. From the Package Manager, install com.unity.addressables package
3. Go to Window > Asset Management > Addressables > Groups
4. Click New > Packed Assets to create a new Group
5. Select the newly created Group
6. In the Inspector, change the “Build & Load Paths” to “<custom>”
7. Then change both “Build Path” and “Load Path” to “<custom>” as well
8. Change entry from “<undefined>” to “Test” on both of them
9. Build the project (File > Build and Run)
10. Observe the Console
Expected result: Build is complete with no errors
Actual result: “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” and “Failed to build Addressables content, content not included in Player Build” errors
Reproducible with: 1.25.1 (2022.3.64f1), 2.3.16, 2.7.0 (6000.0.55f1, 6000.2.0f1, 6000.3.0a4)
Reproducible on: Windows 11
Not reproducible on: No other environment tested
Notes:
- Downgrading/upgrading the Addressables package sometimes makes the issue not reproducible anymore. Only removing the package and then freshly installing the needed version shows consistent results
- Full errors in the Internal Notes
