Visual Effect Asset Search query is missing some results if there are matches between asset names and VFX template names

Search

-

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open the attached project
  2. Observe that there are 2 Visual Effect Assets in the Project window
  3. Wait for the asset indexing to finish
  4. Add a Visual Effect Asset query block to the Search Query
  5. Observe the Query results

Actual results: Query results show only one VFX asset

Expected results: Query results show both VFX assets

Reproducible with versions: 6000.5.0a7, 6000.5.0a8

Not reproducible with versions: 6000.0.70f1, 6000.3.11f1, 6000.4.0b12, 6000.5.0a6

Tested on (OS): macOS 26.3.1

Notes:

  • If the Template name for the "graph" VFX asset is modified, it will start appearing in the query search results, which can be used as a workaround
  • The issue occurs with a fresh Library folder. If the workaround of adjusting the template name is used, the issue will not appear until the Library is rebuilt

More notes

  • The bug only happens if the Search window is docked in the default layout.
  • If we delete Assets/Settings/PC_RPA.asset the bug doesn't happen.
  • Looking at the log, it seems graph.vfx is never requested for indexing.
  • It happens only if the editor is started fresh on an empty library folder
