[VFX] Compilation fails with ENABLE_LEGACY_INPUT_MANAGER not defined
Compilation error on m_CachedSmoothValue with VFX 8.3.1
Repro step :
- Create a new empty 3D project
- Add com.unity.visualeffectgraph package 8.3.1
- Add com.unity.inputsystem package : 1.0.0 or greater
Observe compilation error: 'm_CachedSmoothValue does not exist in the current context'
Two ways to get rid off this problem :
- Switch the Active Input Handling (in Player settings, Edit > Project Settings > Player) to "Both" or "Old".
- Remove the input system package.

Resolution Note:
Update: The 8.x package cycle is tied to the Unity 2020.1 TECH Stream which is no longer supported and as such no 8.3.2 package will be created.
Please update to the latest Unity 2020.2 / 10.x SRP/VFX package for a resolution.
For those who are not ready to upgrade, the fix for this issue is quite small and can be implemented locally from this PR:

---
This error was due to an unexpected backport in 8.3.1. The problem occurs if ENABLE_LEGACY_INPUT_MANAGER is equal to 0.
