UUM-130515

Regression

No

UI elements become unusable due to Object and Text Fields being set to empty/"0" when clicking "Reset" on their Components

-

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a new Unity project using a 3D Universal Template
  2. In the Hierarchy, create a "Text - TextMeshPro" GameObject
  3. In the Inspector, click on the three dots on the "TextMeshPro -Text (UI)" Component
  4. Select "Reset"
  5. Observe that the text disappears from the Game view
  6. Input any text into the Text Input "TextMeshPro -Text (UI)" Component
  7. Observe the Game view

Actual results: The text is tiny and unreadable, even though the size is the same as before

Expected results: Clicking "Reset" should reset the Component to the default values and not reset everything to 0 or empty

Reproducible with versions: 6000.0.64f1, 6000.2.15f1, 6000.3.2f1, 6000.4.0b1, 6000.5.0a3

Tested on (OS): Windows 11, macOS 26.1 (M1 Pro)

Notes:

  • The issue affects almost all UI elements (TMP and not TMP), since it also resets all Object Fields
  • For text elements, the issue appears to be caused by the fact that "Preferred Height" and "Preferred Width" properties get reset to 0
