Transparent texture looks different in the Texture Preview and in the Scene View when Color Space is set to Linear
How to reproduce:
1. Open the project "case_1235656-texture-linear"
2. Open the Scene "SampleScene"
3. Make sure that the Color Space is set to Linear (Edit->Project Settings...)
4. Select "test.png" in the Assets folder in the Project
5. Observe the results in the Texture Preview in the Inspector and in the Scene View
Expected results: the texture looks the same in the Texture Preview and in the Scene View
Actual results: the texture looks different in the Texture Preview and in the Scene View
Reproducible with: 2018.4.23f, 2019.3.14f1, 2020.1.0b9, 2020.2.0a11
Notes:
1. Test (Texture 2D) Import Settings:
-Texture Type - Sprite (2D and UI)
-sRGB (Color Texture) - True
-Alpha Source - Input Texture Alpha

Resolution Note (2020.2.X):
The reason the Texture Preview looks different from the Scene/Game view is that the Texture Preview uses gamma space blending regardless of the project's colorspace.
Unfortunately, changing the Texture Preview UI rendering pipeline to perform linear blending is not trivial. We will clarify this in the docs a bit better.
