Texture2D reference to .tif format file is lost when upgrading project up to 2022.1.0a2 or above
Reproduction steps:
1. Open the attached project ("Case_1350456_Repro.zip") with Unity 2022.1.0a2 or above
2. Observe the "Test" prefab's "Reftex" reference
Expected result: No errors are thrown after upgrading the project, references are not lost
Actual result: Error is thrown ("Could not create asset from Assets/Scenes/testTex_2d1.tif: File could not be read")
Reproducible with: 2022.1.0a2, 2022.1.0a4
Not reproducible with: 2018.4.36f1, 2019.4.29f1, 2020.3.16f1, 2021.1.17f1, 2021.2.0b5, 2022.1.0a1
Note:
- Issue reproduces with both regular GameObjects and Prefabs
- Reproduced the issue when upgrading from these Unity versions: 2018.4.36f1, 2019.4.29f1, 2020.3.13f1, 2021.1.17f1
- Couldn't reproduce the issue when upgrading from Unity 2021.2.0b5
