"InvalidCastException: Specified cast is not valid" is thrown when Generating Lighting with "Virtual Offset" enabled in APV, and a static Skinned Mesh Rendered with a Mesh Filter Component is in the Scene
Reproduction steps:
1. Open the attached “IN-100507.zip” project
2. Open the “OutdoorsScene” Scene
3. Go to Window > Rendering > Lighting
4. Click Generate Lighting
5. Observe the Console
Expected result: No errors and lighting generates, or a more informative message is shown in the Console
Actual result: “InvalidCastException: Specified cast is not valid.” is thrown, and lighting is not generated
Reproducible with: 6000.0.48f1, 6000.1.2f1, 6000.2.0a10
Couldn’t test with: 2022.3.62f1 (APV not available)
Reproducible on: Windows 11
Not reproducible on: no other environment tested
Notes:
- Does not reproduce if the “Mesh Filter” Component is removed or the “Noren_Big_x4_White_LOD0” GameObject is unmarked as Static
- Also does not reproduce if the “Virtual Offset” is disabled in the Lighting Window in the Adaptive Prove Volumes tab
- Could not reproduce on a new projec
