Incremental compilation is done against IL-post processed assemblies, potentially causing compilation deadlocks
I heard through the grapevine that this might be fixed in 21.1 due to the new pipeline using Bee. I'll have to test that a bit later!
How to reproduce:
1. Open attached project "pp_compilation_repro.zip"
2. In Project select Assets/MyRepro.cs and Reimport
3. Observe Console window
Expected result: No compilation errors
Actual result: "The type 'TheFeature' cannot be used as type parameter 'T' in the generic type or method 'SomeFeature.SomeUnconstrainedAPI<T>()'" error
Reproducible with: 2019.4.29f1, 2020.3.13f1, 2021.1.0a5
Not reproducible with: 2021.1.0a6, 2021.1.13f1, 2021.2.0b1
Workaround:
Deleting the Library folder fixes the issue
