[DLSS] Ultra Performance in DLSS doesn't seem to give ultra / best performance
Just want to double check that this is the intended behavior here.
Repro steps :
- Open attached project
- Open scene called "Sample Scene"
- Open Rendering Debugger under Rendering tab and look at the DLSS tab
- Press Play
- Select camera and switch between DLSS quality mode
Expected : Ultra performance should give you the best performance, and should be the "lower" resolution among all the mode
Result : Maximum performance seems to give you the lowest input resolution whereas ultra perf shows native input resolution (see array below)
Additional info :
- I have the feeling the quality modes does not really correspond to the right presets on the other side.
- Happens on master (2022.2.0a4) and also on 2021.2 (surely 2022.1 too)
In my example
4k - 3840x2160 represente an area of 100%
Mode Resolution Area Rough FPS
Maximum Quality 2562x1442 45% ~105fps
Balanced 2228x1254 34% ~107fps
Maximum Performance 1920x1080 25% ~102fps
Ultra Performance 3840x2160 100% ~75fps
Environment :
- Windows 10
- Unity 2022.2.0a4
- HDRP 14.0.0

Resolution Note (fix version 14.0.2):
NVidia documentation explain it: https://github.cds.internal.unity3d.com/unity/NVUnityPlugin/blob/master/Lib/NGXSDK/2.2-0/Doc/RTX_Developer_Guidelines.pdf . Ultra performance is a bad name and will give bad performance for < 4K resolution.
